The Awakening - 4th Mini Album
| Release Date: March 6, 2017 |
| Rating: 5 out of 5 stars |
★★★★★

This album review is so long overdue I apologize...I've just been so lazy with formatting posts lately and now I'm on a blogging kick and just churning out posts so here I am.

Gfriend is such a power girl group and I've been in love with them ever since I listened to Rough and Navillera. While before I simply enjoyed their music, this album hooked me in and I am now a declared Buddy.

All the tracks in this album are absolutely amazing and I loved how Fingertip was so catchy and different from their previous title tracks but still had a killer dance routine and familiar guitar riff that's unique to Gfriend.

Other than the title track, my favorite song has to be Rain in the Springtime which has been one of the alarms for my many naps and I even went so far as to attempt translating the lyrics into English just so I could have a reference point to sing along to in my head while listening.

While they've already stopped promoting, you guys should still go stream the Fingertip MV and give the album lots of love!

This is my second type writing this post since my computer glitched the first time and I lost the entire review. =_= Oh well, let's get into my thoughts and keep our fingers crossed that I won't have to write this post a third time.

I've been hearing about 13 Reasons Why ever since the Netflix mini series came out and took the internet by storm. Initially, I wasn't planning on picking it up since I read the novel back when it first came out, but after hearing everyone talk about it and realizing that I didn't remember anything, I decided to pick it up for a re-read.

“Everything...affects everything”

The story is honestly so gripping and once I started reading, I fell into the same daze that Clay was feeling - the need to keep reading (listening) to find out what happened next, who is on that list, how did they contribute to Hannah's death. The questions are endless and that drives you to keep reading. Being able to feel the urgency that Clay felt enhanced the whole reading experience as I was able to understand his internal debate and struggle which would have been 10x worse than my own.

“But sometimes there’s nothing left to do but move on.”

One of the biggest reasons why I picked this up was reading about a debate on the internet around whether 13 Reasons Why glorified suicide and that honestly struck a chord with me. I believe that the novel addresses teen suicide in a very unique way. With each revelation, Jay Asher focuses on the little details that seem trivial to teenagers that could have such a big impact on the people around them. It's a reminder that our actions have consequences no matter how big or small.

I'm not really sure where I stand on the whole debate but I will say that 13 Reasons Why offers a different perspective that has the potential to really impact readers with its message. Honestly, after reading this book, I'm intrigued by the mini series but I don't know if I'll ever get around to watching it so reading the book will have to do for now.

There will be a battle, and you will need to protect your heart.

Kjell of Jeru had always known who he was. He'd never envied his brother or wanted to be king. He was the bastard son of the late King Zoltev and a servant girl, and the ignominy of his birth had never bothered him.
But there is more to a man than his parentage. More to a man than his blade, his size, or his skills, and all that Kjell once knew has shifted and changed. He is no longer simply Kjell of Jeru, a warrior defending the crown. Now he is a healer, one of the Gifted, and a man completely at odds with his power.
Called upon to rid the country of the last vestiges of the Volgar, Kjell stumbles upon a woman who has troubling glimpses of the future and no memory of the past. Armed with his unwanted gift and haunted by regret, Kjell becomes a reluctant savior, beset by old enemies and new expectations. With the woman by his side, Kjell embarks upon a journey where the greatest test may be finding the man she believes him to be.

Amy knew at an early age that writing was something she wanted to do, and she divided her time between writing songs and stories as she grew. Amy Harmon has written eleven novels — the USA Today Bestsellers, The Bird and The Sword, Making Faces and Running Barefoot, as well as From Sand and Ash, The Law of Moses, The Song of David, Infinity + One, and the New York Times Bestseller, A Different Blue. I haven't posted a book review in so long and it feels really weird, but I'm finally back. Let's start this off with a quick happy book birthday to Other Breakable Things as it's getting released today and if this catches your interest, be sure to click on the cover to get access to the Amazon link!

One of the primary things that drew me to Other Breakable Things was how simple the cover was. It's such a clean design and despite being so colorless, the cover just really stands out. From the summary, it sounds like a very heartbreaking story that will tug at your heartstrings till the very last page.

As I was going through the book, there were just so many elements that reminded me of Me Before You by Jojo Moyes from the incurable health condition to the desire to commit suicide through medicine. While the stories are definitely different in terms of age dynamic and the overall experience, I could not get that similarity out of my head and found myself making comparisons throughout the story.

Luc and Evelyn have such a wonderful relationship together and it was really endearing to see how they connected after so many years apart. Upon discovering Luc's condition and his plans, the way that Evelyn responded was surprisingly mature and seeing how much hope she placed in him and the power of something so simple as making a thousand cranes was so heart wrenching.

With the ending, I'll admit that I wish things ended differently and again, going back to the Me Before You similarities, I guess I just wanted something different. However, apart from all the similarities, Other Breakable Things was a decent story that was both fun and heartfelt to read.
